That Quilt that started it all. For me, it was a learn to quilt kit that my aunt gave me for Christmas when I was 10. It was just a nine patch doll quilt with a muslin backing. I hand stitched it all, and when it came to quilting, I was far to busy to do a great job at that age, I stitched a quick running stitch S across the middle of the quilt and called it done.

Now I look back and think" well, maybe I should fix that!" But then it wouldn't be my first quilt. I have come along way baby! I finished a beautiful Moda Block of the month for my father for Christmas, and I have to say, that knitting has taken over my life. Just yesterday I was taking in another block of the month class and I think the bug is back. I have the itch to quilt, but I have to get my sewing room cleaned up.

Here is my inspiration, the Moda Fabrics for my newest quilt and the first one that I have designed! Maybe it will inspire you too!
Whitneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03480123144670225150noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9125446454958455285.post-31003836287407171602009-12-21T10:22:00.000-08:002009-12-21T10:24:06.716-08:00Class Schedule for 2010 at the Crooked StitchBeginning Quilting
Learn the basics of quilting while completing a lap quilt using traditional quilting techniques. It was absolutely beautiful, the snow blanketing everything. Much to my surprise though, GWH failed to pack a hat for Pippers to wear. I decided that I could whip one up rather quickly... One Skein wonder style. I had just enough Noro chunky get the job done, but in the interest of using up some beautiful "Left Overs" I decided that I should add in Unplanned Peacock's Bonfire in the DK weight. They were the perfect combination!!! I can't even believe it! They knit into the most beautiful fabric, the Bonfire is all the colors that the Noro lacked, and talk about soft. Pippers is very lucky to have such a beautiful happenstance hat!Whitneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03480123144670225150noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9125446454958455285.post-18976444151160796822009-11-30T14:42:00.001-08:002009-11-30T14:46:07.499-08:00The Crooked Stitch Holiday Open HouseAs a preview and a great way to celebrate the holidays The Crooked Stitch will be opening for a holiday open house.
